Aztec is a much-loved gelding suitable for beginners right through to more experienced riders. He’s the perfect mix of steady and clever—happy to plod along when you’re learning, but always ready to step up a gear when it’s time to actually ride properly.

He has a very clear “second gear” where he encourages riders to use their aids correctly and stay switched on. Aztec is incredibly tuned in to his rider’s focus—if you switch off, he’ll happily drift his way into the centre of the arena and remind you he’s got opinions too. But stay with him, ride accurately and he’ll respond beautifully, moving forward with softness and purpose.

Aztec is the kind of horse that teaches awareness without being overwhelming. He’s honest, clever and brilliant for developing riders who need to sharpen their timing, balance and attention to detail.

He’s also got a spunky personality with just the right amount of cheek. He enjoys a bit of fun, but he knows when to switch on and get to work—making him a fantastic partner for learning while still keeping things engaging.
