The treadmill helps horses improve posture and alignment by encouraging them to carry themselves correctly with every step. This consistent, controlled movement strengthens their natural balance, reduces tension, and lays the foundation for soundness and better performance in any discipline.

The treadmill enhances balance and coordination by encouraging horses to move evenly and engage their core with each stride. This controlled, consistent exercise helps them stay steady, agile, and confident in every gait and discipline.

Supports Rehabilitation and Soundness
The treadmill supports rehabilitation and long-term soundness by providing low-impact, controlled exercise that’s gentle on joints and muscles. Ideal for injured or recovering horses, it promotes safe strengthening, improves mobility and aids in preventing future injuries — helping horses stay healthy, balanced, and performing at their best.
The treadmill develops straightness and symmetry by encouraging even weight distribution and correct tracking in every stride. This controlled exercise improves posture, balance and muscle alignment, helping horses move more efficiently, prevent injuries and perform at their peak in any discipline.

Controlled Conditioning
The treadmill offers controlled conditioning, allowing precise adjustment of speed and incline for safe, effective fitness training. This targeted exercise builds strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health while reducing strain on joints, helping horses stay sound, balanced, and ready to perform at their best.
The equine treadmill is perfect for horses of all ages and disciplines. Young horses build balance and coordination safely, while seasoned athletes maintain fitness, strengthen topline and refine posture. Its controlled, consistent environment helps every horse perform better, recover faster and stay healthier for longer.

Will This Aid My Horse?
Our treadmill program benefits every horse, from any discipline. With controlled speed and incline, it builds core strength, topline and straightness without rider interference or uneven footing. It’s gentle on joints, enhances posture and creates true balance — the foundation for soundness and performance in any sport.

At 56, I’m still as horse-obsessed as I was at 16 — only now with 35 years of experience, a few more grey hairs, and a lot more understanding of what makes horses tick.
My life’s work has been about one thing: helping horses move, feel, and live better.
From breeding and raising foals, to training horses right through to FEI level, to now working with Thoroughbreds on and off the track — it’s been a full-circle journey of discovering how posture and biomechanics shape everything about a horse’s physical life.
I’ve always believed good posture isn’t just for pretty pictures — it’s the secret to soundness, comfort, and performance.
When a horse learns to carry itself correctly, it’s like watching them exhale and say, “Ah, that’s how I’m meant to move.”
They become stronger, straighter, and so much happier in their work. That’s the kind of transformation I live for.
After 15 years studying Légèreté, I learned that true lightness isn’t just in the reins — it’s in the whole body.
It’s about balance, ease and that effortless partnership between horse and human. Those lessons now flow into everything I do, from helping racehorses develop symmetry and strength, to supporting retired Thoroughbreds finding their new rhythm in life.
I’ve seen it all — the wobbly foals, the overachievers, the quirky geniuses — and every single one has taught me something new about the importance of posture, patience, and feel.
Whether it’s on a treadmill, in the arena, or out in the paddock, my goal’s the same:
Help horses find their best version of themselves — strong, balanced, and ready to shine.
LET ME HELP YOU TOO! :)

Mandy Batkin
Mandy previously worked at a riding school in England for over five years before moving to Australia.
After completing an Advanced Diploma in Horse Management, she spent 15 years working in senior roles within the racing industry at Caulfield Racecourse. During this time, Mandy gained extensive hands-on experience conditioning, strengthening, and rehabilitating horses using the treadmill — developing a sharp eye for balance, posture, and soundness.
Her years of experience have given her a deep understanding of how treadmill work can enhance performance, support recovery, and complement training programs across all types of horses. Mandy now brings that knowledge and attention to detail to her role as our office manager, ensuring everything behind the scenes runs as smoothly as the horses she’s worked with.

Leanne Williams
Co-Director of Avoca Park, has dedicated her life to developing happy, healthy, and well-trained horses. Since 1991, she has bred, backed and trained her own horses from the ground up — combining patience, feel and deep understanding of biomechanics. Now a racehorse trainer, Leanne is passionate about helping all horses — from Thoroughbreds to dressage to her own school horses — move better, feel stronger and enjoy their work. She’s developed a unique cross-training program that blends classical principles with modern conditioning techniques, building soundness, confidence, and longevity in every horse. It’s a system she’s incredibly proud of — and it’s transforming the way horses train, perform and recover across all disciplines.
